Terraforma (December 9-22)
12/9/2016 - 12/22/2016

Palm House - Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens
Sydney, NSW
United States
This exhibition combines the talents of award winning artists Leasha Craig (Sculptor) & Karen Bloomfield.
The artists have envisioned an exciting and unique exhibition of both 2 & 3 dimensional works celebrating the Bi-centenary of the Sydney Botanic Garden by engaging the viewer with interpretations of the architectural & botanical elements of the Garden. Through various mediums including Australian timbers, semi-precious metals & the use of sound to create a holistic experience, this exhibition will be a valuable contribution to the calendar of events for this important Bi-centennial celebration year.
Leasha Craig is a sculptor specializing in bronze, timber & stainless steel. Her work has international appeal with collectors across Australia, Singapore & London, UK. Her focus for the December collaboration is historical organic forms & important indigenous species, including the Wishing Tree & Waratah, and bringing these into the Palm House for the public in an engaging sculptural format.
Karen Bloomfield specialises in both charcoal & oils. Her recent exhibition, Juggernaut, which focused on the architecture & colours of Port Botany was acclaimed by industry & collectors alike. Her work hangs in the NSW Police HQ & private collections as far afield as Copenhagen.
Karen brings an intimate aspect to her subject by honing the viewers’ eye to experience unexpected beauty in architectural elements. It is this particular skill Karen will bring to represent the unique buildings throughout and around the gardens.
